The challenge

Your supplier expects stages.
Your process should keep up.

Deposits. Production milestones. Advances before shipment. They are ordinary purchasing arrangements, but restrictions on changing prepayment percentages after posting can make the next installment difficult to manage.

The Lumi Prepayment approach

Pay in stages.
Keep it on one order.

Define the next installment, preview its accounting impact and post a standard purchase prepayment invoice. Each installment contributes to the cumulative prepayment balance of the original order.

When you post the final purchase invoice, Business Central deducts the accumulated prepayments through its standard process.

A few useful answers

Have a particular purchasing scenario?
Talk to LuminareSoft

Does Business Central already support multiple prepayment invoices?

Yes. Its standard posting engine supports multiple prepayment invoices. Restrictions on modifying prepayment percentages after posting can make progressive installments difficult to manage. Lumi Prepayment adds a dedicated workflow for applying and posting the next installment.

Does it create separate Purchase Orders?

No. Each installment stays associated with the original Purchase Order, preserving one connected purchasing history.

Can I use a fixed amount instead of a percentage?

Yes. Enter a fixed installment amount, apply a percentage across all lines, or define installment values for individual purchase lines.

What about Purchase Order approvals?

Where approval is required, apply the installment amounts to the order, obtain approval, and then post the prepayment invoice using Business Central’s standard action.

Can I review previous installments?

Yes. Review posted prepayment invoices and credit memos, vendor invoice numbers, installment amounts and cumulative percentages. The extension also includes a Purchase Order FactBox and installment statements.

What happens on the final purchase invoice?

Business Central deducts the accumulated prepayments as part of its standard purchase invoicing process.

Does it transfer money to suppliers or support Sales Orders?

Lumi Prepayment manages purchase prepayment invoicing. Vendor payments are handled through your payment process. The extension currently focuses on Purchase Orders; Sales Orders are outside its scope.
